ROSE, VIRGINIA, Rosa virginiana – Soil/site: moist to dry, salt tolerant; Fruit: 1/2-to-3/4-inch hips that will remain on plants until following spring if not eaten; Wildlife value: used by songbirds, mammals and upland game birds. Mature height: 4-7 feet.
