Description
SHAGBARK HICKORY, Carya ovata – A hardy, slow-growing tree that prefers well drained soils. Strong, shock-resistant wood is used for tool handles. Also used for firewood and smoking meats. Produces medium sized nuts eaten by deer, beer, turkeys and squirrels. Shaggy bark gives the tree its name and provides nesting sites for birds and bats. Seedling height: 5-10 inches. Mature tree height: 60-80 feet. Maximum of 100 seedlings per customer.
