Description
BLACK WALNUT, Juglans nigra – Valuable hardwood tree that grows best on rich, well-drained sites in southern NH. Dark brown heartwood lumber used for veneer, furniture, cabinets and ornamental woodworking. Large, round nuts favored by squirrels and mice. Tomatoes, apples and other species may not survive near large walnut trees. Seedling height: 6 inches plus. Mature height: 70-100 feet.
