Description
RED OAK, Quercus rubra – A large tree producing some of the most valuable hardwood lumber in the northeast. Prefers fertile, well-drained soils from central NH southward. Oak acorns are a valuable source of winter food and eaten by deer, bear, turkeys and squirrels. Seedling height: 5-10 inches. Mature height: 70-80 feet.
