Description
DOUGLAS-FIR, Pseudotsuga menziesii – A tall, magnificent tree native to Western United States with soft, 3/4 to 1 1/4-inch needles radiating in all directions from the branch. A popular Christmas tree. Susceptible to late spring frost; avoid planting in low areas. Prefers moist, well-drained soils. Excellent response to shearing, one of the fastest growers. Grows best in central and southern NH. Seedling height: 5-10 inches. Mature height 60-80 feet.
