HAWTHORN, Crataegus spp.- A large-thorned, non-native tree; Soil: moist or well-drained; Use: windbreaks, screens or shrub borders; Spacing: 5-10 feet; Wildlife: fruit (persistent through winter) eaten by many song and game birds, rabbits, and deer. Mature height: 10-40 feet.
