SPICE BUSH, Lindera benzoin. – Soil/site: moist to wet. Grows in partial shade. Yellow flowers in the late spring.; Leaves are a food source for the spice bush swallow tail butterfly caterpillar. Fruit: red fruit is eaten by a variety of song and game birds, and animals. Mature height 6-12 feet.
