Description
Speckled Alder, Alnus incana – A wetland shrub, sometimes reaching small tree size, typically found in thickets in wetlands, along streambanks, lakeshores or damp meadows. Cone like seed catkins or strobili are popular food for ruffed grouse, woodcock and a variety of songbirds. Thickets provide excellent cover for a variety of wildlife. An excellent species for disturbed site reclamation projects and streambank erosion control. Seedling height: 6+ inches. Mature tree height: 20-60 feet. Maximum of 25 seedlings per customer.
