Welcome to the NH State Forest Nursery Store
Sales begin in December and run through May.
Pickup and shipping start in the spring and are weather dependent, but typically run from mid-April through late May. Please see Shipping & Pickup for more information.
We offer more than 50 species of bare-root seedling for sale to the public. All our seedlings are grown from seed in our own seedbeds to ensure they are well adapted to the regional climate and conditions. Our seedlings are great for:
- Wildlife food and cover
- Reforestation
- Erosion control and stream bank stabilization
- Christmas tree plantations
- Site reclamation
- Hedgerows for wind and snow breaks
Inventory Notice
The late season frost last May and an extremely wet summer have caused a lot of damage to our seedlings and growth has been severely impacted this year. Due to these and other environmental conditions we are not offering Fraser fir this year and our supply of Balsam fir is extremely limited. On a positive note, we are excited to announce that we are in the process of replacing our decades-old irrigation system and expanding our growing area. We do not anticipate any disruption in sales as this project proceeds, but it will be several growing seasons before we will see an increase in inventory from the new seed beds.
About Inventory
Our store tracks inventory in real-time for each species. We base our starting inventories on conservative estimates taken in the fall. If an item sells out, there is a chance inventory will be added in the spring as we lift the seedlings from the seed beds. Please check back regularly between mid-April through mid-May if the item you want is sold out. Inventory will be updated on Mondays.
About Order Sizes
We set limits for order sizes to allow as many people as possible to purchase seedlings. These limits accommodate the majority of our customers’ needs. If you require quantities above these pre-set limits, please contact us. Several limited inventory species have lower limits as noted in bold in the Product Description. We strictly adhere to the set amounts for limited species.
